What is the Henderson Police Department Written Exam?

The Henderson Police Department (HPD) written exam is designed to assess a candidates general knowledge in three key areas: reading comprehension, writing skills, and problem-solving ability. This exam measures essential skills needed for success in this role. Please note there are no official study guides or practice tests provided for this exam.

Is the written exam different for Police & Corrections Officer?

You only need to take ethe exam once, and your results will be used for the position you applied for.

How long do I have to complete the HPD written exam?

Once you receive the invitation to test, you will have 10 calendar days to complete the exam. The exam will be completed using the platform eSkill. Candidates will be able to complete the exam remotely online and may complete at any point day or night within the timeframe.

What is eSkill?

eSkill is an online testing platform we use to administer assessments such as the HPD written exam. Through eSkill you'll complete your test securely and conveniently from your computer.

What are the computer requirements for eSkill?

  • A desktop or laptop computer (mobile devices and tablets are not recommended)
  • A stable internet connection
  • An up-to-date web browser such as Google Chrome (recommended), Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari
  • A webcam (internal or external)

Tip: We recommended testing your system before the exam to make sure everything is working properly. eSkill provides a quick system check link before you begin.

What should I do if I experience technical issues?

  • If your internet disconnects or your browser closes during the test, log back in as soon as possible to continue where you left off.
  • If the problem continues, clear your browser's cache or try a different supported browser.
  • Make sure no other programs or downloads are running in the background that could slow your computer.
  • If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, contact eSkill's technical support through the help link provided on the test page or email support@eskill.com.

Please note that retakes are not allowed for technical difficulties unless it is deemed that an error occurred due to eSkill functionality.

ID Validation Instructions:

  • Have your entire face clearly in the frame for a minimum of five (5) seconds before showing your ID.
  • Hold your photo ID up to the camera so that the name and photo is clearly visible. Hold for a minimum of five (5) seconds.

Note: the name of the test-taker must match the exact name that is printed on your valid photo identification.

If we are unable to see a clear, unobstructed view of the candidate's face as well as their ID, we may not be able to verify the candidate's identity and their test results may be invalid.
