Frequently Asked Questions
What can cause a delay in my candidate starting?
Here are some common reasons your candidates start date can be delayed.
- Not completing forms in a timely manner.
- All forms assigned in NeoGov are required to proceed with background checks, drug screenings etc. If these forms are not complete, technicians will need to wait until they are done to move forward.
- Candidates schedules physical or other screenings based on their availability.
- For all screenings except for drug screenings the candidate will need to contact the doctor’s office to make an appointment. Candidates schedule screenings based on the doctor’s office availability as well as their own. Drug screenings can be conducted on a walk-in basis. Candidate is asked to provide Technician with appointment date and time through NeoGov.
- Screening result delays.
- There are many reasons why our office can be awaiting results from a doctor’s office. If a candidate has further instruction from the doctor on what is needed to complete their medical clearances that information is provided to the candidate not our office and they will need to follow up on the instruction. Regarding drug screenings a candidate does have a certain allotted time to complete that screening so the closer they get to the expiration date the longer the results can take to get back. On top of that a screening result can yield a positive result which doesn’t automatically disqualify the candidate, but they will have a set number of days to dispute those results. Another option is a diluted result which means the candidate consumed too much water and the candidate will need to be retested which again will add more time to hiring process. Lastly, candidates can miss drug screenings all together in which we will need approval from an HRBP or HR Manager to extend the expiration date.
- Flagged background checks
- Our third-party vendor conducts all background checks. In some cases, they are unable to verify previous employment and/or education. That will show on our end as a flag and we will then request these documents from the candidate and depending on how accessible that information is to the candidate this can also cause delays.
- Candidate is relocating to Nevada
- Candidate may need extra time to move to the Southern Nevada area which may delay their start date.
Can I contact my candidate prior to them receiving a final offer letter?
We ask that you please not contact candidates prior to receiving their Final Offer Letters because of reasons listed above. Candidates are not cleared to work until ALL results are reviewed and approved.
